Subsidized Health Benefits or Health Insurance paid by the employer are one of the few real perks of working for someone else. Surveys have shown that, for employees, paid benefits are the most important criteria of their compensation packages.
There is no shortage of people running their own home businesses with no Health or Disability coverage at all. If you're 100% dependent upon your home business as your sole source of income and you lose your health, you lose your livelihood as well.
If you run a home-based business, you really cannot afford not to have Health Insurance. Here's how to make it happen, whatever your circumstances.
OPTIONS FOR THE EMPLOYER OF ONE (YOU)
There are three Options when it comes to Health Insurance and in some cases Disability Insurance.
Spousal Insurance: If your spouse is working a an employment that has good Family Health Insurance, let him/her cover you. The price will be lower that you can get yourself and probably have better coverage.
Group Health Insurance
There are some Insurance Companies that have Group Health Insurance Policies for the Self-employed but, they are few and far between. Due diligence will bring those companies up. There are no Pre-existing medical questions and they will cover a group of one.
Individual Health Insurance
Pre-existing medical conditions are the problems here Because these insurances companies are subject to medical underwriting your state of health will be a main factor taken into account in determining whether to accept your application.
REDUCING THE HIGH COST OF HEALTH INSURANCE
Reduction of Level of Coverage
If you have no health conditions, only go to the doctor once a year for an annual examination and don't need regular expensive prescription medications, try cutting out coverage for office visits and prescriptions.
Higher Deductible
Increase your deductible from $100 to $2,000. Put back $30.00 a month into an account to be used only for deductibles and cut your premium payment in half.
Don’t think that this is going to be easy, but after all your work in having your own business and working so hard to have what you want in your business what would be the use if it is all goes to Medical Bills!
Again, due diligence is an important thing to do!
